Want to be beautiful all day long in just five minutes? I can show you how.

As a makeup artist, I have to do good work quickly since YOU have places to go! Here is a beauty base you can flaunt in just minutes:

First, you will need the following items:

CONCEALER, BRONZER, BLUSH, MASCARA, LIP GLOSS or CRÉME,  and MAKEUP BRUSHES

Next:

~Apply CONCEALER with foundation brush in the t-zone and to blemishes. Blend outwards

~Apply BRONZER with bronzing brush to all outsides of the face and neckline. Include under the cheekbone

~Apply BLUSH to apples of the cheeks. BLEND into bronzer with circular motions with a big, clean powder brush

~Apply MASCARA to both sides of top lashes and to bottom, if desired.  Two coats are great as long as you wait a minute between coats. Brush out any clumps with a dry mascara wand or lash brush

~Apply COLOR LIPGLOSS in matte or shiny

The emphasis in this look is bright skin. If you want extra beautiful, you can add on from here…especially if it’s date night.

Good luck! Feel free to comment about your experience below.

How to Create a Sexy Lip

Lips like these take six products and good brushes.
Have you ever seen a beautiful makeup job on lips? Most of us use a simple gloss or crème for our day look, but on occasion we need to rock the house with our sexiness. Using these tips, you can do your lips like a makeup artist would!

1.  Start with a small brushing of foundation or concealer at the lip line inwards.
2. Dry with a light dusting of translucent powder.
3. Using a lip liner pencil, line your lips with short, feathery strokes at the lip line or just outside the lip line (to create fuller lips).
4. Blend slightly with your finger or lip brush to blur the line (just a LITTLE).
5.  Next apply your lipstick SPARINGLY with a lip brush at the insides of your lips up to the lip liner line.  Blot, if necessary.
6. Dust slightly again with translucent powder.
7. Add a small amount of shimmery color that is lighter than your lipstick. Apply in a racing stripe straight down from under the V at the top of your lips to the pout area on the bottom.
8. Soften slightly with your finger to blend.
9. Lightly dust again.
10. Add clear lip gloss SPARINGLY to the whole look.  Tada!

A good nude lip takes some skill.

The key to this look is precision and remember that all of these steps, while important, should not be overdone.  Practice makes perfect!

How to Use Concealers on Dark Skin

A reader asks:
“Do you work on African American skin and hair at all?  My daughter is multi-racial and she is having a terrible time trying to find the right makeup for her skin.  She ends up creating a way too white face (she would prefer it much darker) and has oily skin so by the end of the day she looks like she is wearing a mask.  We need help with her skin and products as well as application.  She is only 12 so I don’t want her to look like she is wearing a ton of makeup but that is the result she gets because she wants to cover up every blemish”.

Hi Reader!

Concealer brushes are silky and flat.
Concealer brushes are silky and flat.

Your daughter can use an all-over primer for shine control and switch to concealer jars for blemishes and discolorations instead of coating her face with cover up. She can apply the concealer with a flat, rounded foundation brush and feather outwards. It should last all day in normal temperatures as long as she primes first. Have her chose a concealer that is one shade darker and warmer than her face. As long as she blends the corners of each blemish, it should look great.

Remember, dark skin is usually WARM, stay away from cool and ashy tones. That means look for orange/red-based products and NO blue/pink-based concealers or foundations.

Also, if she wants in-depth advice, most salons offer basic makeup lessons for about $50.
